What is a traditional boiler?

What is a traditional boiler?

A traditional boiler also known as a regular or heat only boiler are popular in many homes across the country.  Traditional boilers are typical of homes where you may have older pipework that can’t cope with pressure of mains water (a combi boiler takes water straight from the mains). Some people also prefer a traditional boiler for the benefit of having an immersion – having a hot water cylinder means that should your boiler break you still have access to hot water.

Homes with two or more bathrooms may also prefer a traditional boiler as this type of heating set up can easily handle high demands for hot water. Worcester Bosch, Ideal, Vaillant and Glow-Worm boilers all manufacture heat only / traditional boilers.

Traditional boilers provide your homes heating and the hot water is provided via a hot water cylinder. A cold-water tank will be in your loft which takes water directly from the mains and then feeds this to your water cylinder to ensure a steady flow is maintained. This system of storing, heating, and distributing water means there is always hot water readily available.

If you already have a traditional boiler, the most economic solution will be to replace your existing boiler with a new energy efficient traditional boiler especially if your water pressure is low.

If you want to use with solar water heating systems traditional boilers are a good choice helping you to reduce carbon footprint and reduce your energy costs.

Benefits of energy efficient traditional boilers

Make use of condensing technology, modern boilers ensure as much heat as possible is converted into useful heat for your home. By condensing, your boiler will ensure at least 90p in every £1 you spend on gas or oil will be converted into heat for your home comfort.

ERP rating A, the ErP Rating is designed to drive improvements in the efficiency and performance of heating and hot water products.

Perfect for busy families, the real benefit of a heat only boiler is that several hot water taps can be run at the same time, making it the perfect option for busy families and homes with several bathrooms.
