Due to its rural location the property relies on an oil fired system for its heating and hot water. The existing boiler was very old and had become unreliable. The existing oil tank had become brittle and being a single skin tank meant the decision was taken to replace both the boiler and oil tank.
Modern oil boilers are very efficient. A new oil tank and line was installed. Bunded oil tanks are essentially ‘a tank within a tank ‘. Bunded oil tanks help protect the environment against potential oil spills and leaks. If a bunded oil tank were to leak the oil will simply reside within the ‘second skin’ rather than soaking into the ground. As oil tanks age they can become brittle which leaves them susceptible to leaks, hence the importance of a bunded oil tank.
