New Combi boiler installed in Blandford Forum

New Combi boiler installed in Blandford Forum

Total Energy Services install new Worcester gas combi boiler in Blandford Forum cottage.  Our customer’s property is a quaint cottage in the heart of the Georgian market town of Blandford Forum.  The existing boiler had become inefficient and very unreliable over time and the customer was keen to upgrade to a new model.

Worcester 8000 Boiler

Total Energy Services installed a new Worcester 8000 boiler. The new boiler builds upon Worcester’s already award winning Greenstar CDi classic but with a host of new features.

Never has been controlling your heating and hot water been so effortless. This boiler has a sleek new design with a user-friendly control panel and an intelligent filling system meaning you don’t need to re fill the boiler manually. These excellent new features make the Worcester 8000 life a fantastic choice if you are considering upgrading your boiler.

Prior to installing the boiler, the customer’s heating system was power flushed to remove the sludge, dirt and debris that has built up over the years.

Why should you powerflush a heating system before installing a new boiler?

Overtime the water in your pipes and radiators creates a black sludge like material. This is because the water reacts with rust in the pipes and radiators which naturally occurs when in contact with water. If left, this build up can begin to cause problems that manifest themselves in the following ways;

  • Cold spots on your radiators
  • Excessive noise from the boiler and heating system
  • Dirty coloured water emitting from radiators when you bleed them
  • Some radiators will struggle to heat up – meaning the pipes are boiling but the radiator itself is cold

A clogged-up system also means your boiler is working harder to produce the same amount of heat and hot water causing an increased fuel usage and a rise in your heating bills.

What happens during a powerflush?

During a power flush an engineer will attach a special machine to the heating system and pump chemicals through the pipes boiler and radiators. The chemical will remove the sludge and rust, a descale removes limescale and a product known as a chemical inhibitor will help to prevent the sludge building back up again. Depending on how many radiators within your home will be a leading factor in how long a power flush will take.

Once the system has been power flushed if you are having a new boiler installed the engineer can install the boiler. If you are not having a new boiler just a system cleanse then you are likely to notice an immediate improvement (this is based on the assumption your boiler is in otherwise good working order).

Often power flushes are done at the same time as a boiler replacement to ensure the boiler has a clean system to work off. In fact, many manufacturers stipulate that unless a powerflush or chemical cleanse has been carried out then the boilers warranty may be void. This shows the importance of cleaning your system prior to a new boiler being installed.
