A heat pump is a great way to slash your carbon footprint and did you know a Daikin air source heat pump is around 360% efficient. Total Energy Services have recently installed a Daikin air source heat pump in Dorset.
Our customer has a beautiful character property in the picturesque village of Ashmore near Shaftesbury.
Being in a particularly rural position the property relied on an oil fired heating system to provide their heating and hot water.
Both the oil boiler and oil tank were in need of replacement and therefore it was decided to install a Daikin air source heat pump. As Total Energy Services are MCS certified the customer could have a £7,500 discount due to the government grant which is currently running. Did you know there is also currently 0% VAT on renewable heating systems including air source heat pumps.
Initially our customer had a very in-depth survey with our highly experienced renewable surveyor Rob who went through the entire process and costings with the customer.
The customer then had an energy audit assessment undertaken at their home to ensure the heat pump system design and model will be suitable for their property.
An EPC certificate will also highlight ways to gain extra points for your overall EPC rating such as upgrading your lights to LED bulbs, installing the walls and roof or installing solar panels.
Firstly our engineers drained down the heating and decommissioned the boiler ready to be removed. The hot water cylinder and oil tank were also safely drained down and removed.
Next a Daikin Altherma Monbloc air source heat pump was installed along with an unvented hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard.
Once installed the heat pump was tested and commissioned and the 5 year warranty registered.
