New tiles

Tiles alone can make a huge improvement when walking into a new bathroom and with more tiles to choose from than ever before, this could be a great way to revamp the room without going completely out. To keep the costs down further you can chose to tile only the areas which are prone to getting wet such as the area around the bath, shower and sink and instead paint the remaining space. You can add a feature mirror on to a painted wall which can look add a stylish look.  It is also good to consider the size and composition of tiles as these can make a big difference. For example travertine tiles are a natural derivative of limestone the natural pits and voids on the tiles give a rustic look and the neutral colours add a modern finish.

Grout and caulk

Caulking is the sealant between your walls and bath which blocks any leaks.  Overtime this can look a little worse for wear, with mould and general breakdown of the caulk. By simply replacing the caulk you can have a fresh new look at the fraction of the price of actually replacing your bath.

By cleaning the grout between tiles with special cleaner this can also completely revamp the look of the room. If you fancy a complete change there are also many different options for coloured grout which if you’re not a fan of neutrals will add just the right pop of colour your bathroom is missing!

Add a shower screen instead of a curtain

Swapping your shower curtain to a glass screen a great way to update and modernise the whole look of your bathroom. Shower curtains can look scruffy, holding dirt and mildew within them bringing down the look of your whole bathroom.  Shower screens add a look of class and style without having to replace the whole suit. To keep your screen looking brand new, ensure you invest in a squeegee to wipe off any excess water each time you use the shower.

Add a new power shower

Power showers have really come down in price in recent years and unless you are looking for a rainforest shower a new shower shouldn’t cost the earth.
