Lets look at the timeline so far
The Government lay out a 10 point plan to boost hydrogen production. This includes a hydrogen village, town and eventually city to aid the transition to full scale hydrogen from 2030 onwards.
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial strategy set out a white paper setting out specific steps for the government to take over the next decade to cut emissions.
The Government release The Hydrogen Strategy Paper revealing the Government’s intentions for hydrogen and how its extensive use will help achieve net zero by 2050.
First UK trial of hydrogen blended gas a success
The Government launches the Heat and Buildings Strategy building on the pledges already set out the the mentioned 10 point plan.
Continued trials of H2 domestic trials
In order for home builders to meet strict new carbon reduction requirements installation of gas boilers will be very difficult
Introduction of 20% hydrogen blend into the gas grid
It is expected at around this point 100% hydrogen will be expected in to gas grid
At this point gas boilers are likely to be removed from the market in favour of hydrogen boilers and heat pumps
