Total Energy Services installed evaporative cooling units in a leading logistics company in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
Our client is one of the UK’s leading logistics services and supply chain management providers. Their state of the art warehouses across Hampshire consist of 20,000 square meters of warehousing and 4,000 square meters of dedicated production and assembly areas operating to good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards.
Our customer required an efficient industrial warehouse cooling solution. It needed to be cost effective and sustainable and that the business could rely on, especially during the summer when temperatures inside warehouse soared.
Often within commercial or industrial buildings certain spaces can become hotter than other areas within the same building these are known as ‘hot spots’. These hot spots can even be warmer than the exterior temperature. Hot spots can be caused by processes and equipment equipment or from trapped hot air behind windows. Staff working on a high level within a warehouse can also suffer more heat load.
This makes it extremely uncomfortable for staff to work effectively and has been proven to lessen productivity. Machinery and equipment can be more likely to fail when faced with an excessive heat loads meaning you could be paying out for unnecessary expensive repairs.
Breezair evaporative cooling units were installed which blanketed the hot spots with a flow of cool, high velocity, fresh air.
The evaporative cooling units also cooled larger areas of the warehouse, in fact evaporative cooling units are fast becoming the only sustainable method of cooling larger spaces. For the majority of businesses traditional air conditioning units are not a viable option due to cost of running.
Alongside the high running costs air conditioning units re-circulate stale air which for many food and pharmaceutical businesses is unsafe due to the risk of germs and fumes circulating. Evaporative cooling units only need water and electricity to operate and do not require chemical refrigerants to cool the air. The air is also 100% fresh and filtered which improves the indoor air quality and employee productivity.
Both staff and equipment are kept at a very comfortable working temperature all year round, the summer is no longer dreaded. An annual service ensures everything is kept in tip top condition.
