Powerflush

Treat your heating system to a deep clean

Power flush your system to improve efficiency

Power flushing or power flush is a common procedure that is used to remove debris, rust and sludge from your central heating system. Overtime sludge deposits form due to water within your system reacting with components such as steel from the radiators.

This sludge essentially makes it harder for water to pass through your heating system reducing the efficiency of your boiler and or leading to a potentially costly breakdown.

When do I need to power flush?

If you have your boiler regularly serviced by a Gas Safe or Oftec engineer then a power flush should not often be needed unless you are experiencing circulation issues within your central heating system.

If you are having a new boiler installed manufactures, British standards, gas safe and oftec all recommend that a power flush is carried out prior to the new boiler being fitted. If you decide against this then your new boiler warranty may be void.

Symptoms of heating system needing a power flush

  • Cold patches on radiator i.e. at bottom
  • Noisy boiler
  • Heating not as efficient as it used to be i.e. taking longer to heat up
  • When bleeding radiator the water is murky

What happens during a power flush?

An engineer will connect a power flushing pump which connects to the heating system. The powerful flow, coupled with instantaneous flow reverse device dislodges and mobilises deposits that are not removed by traditional cleaning methods.

One all the deposits are mobilised, clean water is pushed through the system which forces contaminated water out through a dump valve. Each radiator is also individually flushed to ensure deposits as removed.

Whilst power flushing cannot be guaranteed to provided a squeaky clean c central heating system it is the next best thing to replacing all pipework and radiators within your home.

Once the engineer has power flushed the system your central heating system will contain fresh clean water and the reinstatement of the system to normal operation will take less than 5 minutes.
